The Heroes are in Nolien, at Niobhe's castle. Amani has a weird dream, where she looks at a battle where all the people of Cerilia fight against an evil made of shadows. A dark elf materializes next to Amani, and then turns into a dragon. He tells her that only she can open the door. Regall spreads his net of contacts to better understand the situation in the Anuirean Empire, getting ready for a conflict. Ryel decides to be away from the castle. The more time he spends with his magic sword Nemesis, the more he hears voices hat push him to hurt the scions of Anduiras.
Hassan Gunnar and Siobhan (Regall's sister) spend more time together, while they consider a possible courtship. Hassan has made a reputation for himself in the port of Nolien, earning the title of Stormcaller. Deet has been spending more time with Niobhe, who has entrusted her with Amani's protection.
Niobhe and the party travel to the castle of High King Sigurd, to seek his permission to retaliate against Boeruine. The High King gives his blessing, but he will not be involved in the fighting. Niobhe will need time to gather a fleet to attack Boeruine from the sea. While she makes preparations, she asks the Heroes to travel to Tuornen and Alamie to seek the help of her noble husband and his sister. It is known that the two Cardinal-Dukes are not in good terms with the Exalt-Emperor, and this could be a good opportunity to finally ignite the fire of rebellion.
