Heroes (lvl 9): Amani, Deet, Gunnar, Regall, Ryel
673 MR - Spring
Ryel and Gunnar kill two of their ambushers, and send one running. They manage to follow him until he takes refuge inside feasthall, the Silk Swan. They then decide to return to the sewers where Amani, Deet, and lady Idele are still hidden.
The Silk Swan is also the feasthall where Regall, under the guise of Idele, is being kept prisoner. The young man sends his familiar, Sindra the owl, to look for his companions and inform them of Gaelin's betrayal. When her rescuers fail to show up, Regall takes matter into his own hands and escapes. Fearing retribution, Gaelin begins to panic and retires to his palace elsewhere in the city.
In the sewers, the remaining party members decide to sleep for the day, and recover their strengths before attempting to rescue Regall. Having provided for his own "rescuing", Regall informs them of the latest developments. But the sewers are not safe anymore, as the city watch has been informed of the party's presence. The party sneaks outside of the sewers, and they find refuge in a tavern.
A new plan is formed. The party will assassinate Gaelin, and Regall will take his place. Then, with the cooperation of lady Idele, they will "blackmail" her father to help them take the city gates. When night falls, the party sneaks into the city, in view of Gaelin's palace. From a great distance, they spot the merchant-lord surveying the city from his balcony. Hoping to avoid a frontal assault, the party decide to take their chances.
Deet nocks an arrow, and a perfect shot pierces Gaelin through the neck, killing him on the spot. At the same time, Regall, uses a dimension door spell to teleport himself and Ryel on the balcony. As Ryel grabs Gaelin's body, Regall, now under the guise of the merchant, greets "his" guards down in the gardens.
