Early 616 MR
The Heroes retreat to a more easily defensible position, and rest for a day. Their strength recovered, they explore two more islands. On one, they face fierce kuo-toas, and on the second they meet a tribe of bainligors, creatures resembling humanoid bats.
After defeating both groups, they search the abandoned duergar buildings for treasure. Among other spoils, they recover a magic ring. Unfortunately, the ring bears a curse, and, when Raenwe wears it, the cursed ring disintegrates him!
Weary from the previous fights, the Heroes retreat once again to the entrance of the compound to rest.
