Session 22

Heroes (lvl 6): Amani, Deet, Gunnar, Hassan, Regall, Ryel 

672 MR - Summer (month of Deismir)

The PCs continue their travel, passing by the town of Dragon's Rest. The town is built around the statue of the Dragon of Tuornen, a legendary monsters said to have been turned to stone by the power of the awnshegh Medusa. There they meet Belzekyr, a young man obsessed with the legend of the dragon. Belzekyr is a member of Duchess Erin's court. The party spends some time with the young man, and they agree to travel the rest of the way in his company. Regall has some suspicions about the man, and he magically contacts his mother to obtain some answers. What he learns leaves him on high alert.

The party reaches the twin capitals of Haes and Lofton, and arrange for a meeting with Regal's father, the Cardinal-Duke Ansen Tieghan III. After a polite dinner with the rest of the family, the PCs ask for a private meeting. The Duke invites them to his private chapel, where the legendary sword Illuminus is kept. The PCs reveal to the Duke their plans for the future of Anuire, including an attack on Boeruine, an a full-scale rebellion against the Empire to place Amani on the throne.

While the Duke is pondering this, the shadows inside the chapel become deeper, and creatures of darkness coalesce from the hidden corners. A blade of pure darkness comes out of the chest of the Duke, who has just been stabbed in the back.
