Heroes: Trevan, Malik, Machteld.
Year 640 MR - Spring
The Heroes reach an encampment of a few igloos, built near a ring of quill-like icicle spears. The ice formations surround a swirling vortex of icy winds and snow. The Portal of Endless Winter is guarded by a fearsome troll, that the Heroes must defeat before getting a chance to inspect the magical phenomenon.
Trevan realises that the portal can only be closed from the "other" side, and after a night of rest the Heroes decide to cross over. They find themselves in an even colder weather, on a barren plain of snow; the lights of a far away village can be seen in the distance.
On their way, they save a group of travellers from a crazed giant mantis; the leader of the travellers, Nauma, thanks them and together they seek shelter. By sharing news around the fire, the Heroes realise they're now in the Realm of The White Witch, where evil fey are considered much more important than humans, who are treated like slaves.
Nauma escorts them to the village of Waldsby, where the Heroes soon get in trouble with the soldiers of the White Witch. After killing several of them, they escape the town, laying low to prepare their assault on the Pale Tower, the residence of the local lieutenant of the White Witch, a spell caster by the name of Radosek.
The Heroes sneak inside the icy tower during the night, rapidly dispatching a few guards, and a wandering Ice Troll. As they enter the main Hall, a creature of water materialises from the fountain in the middle of the room and attacks them!
