The Heroes defeat Gar and his water elementals. Dafaelyn is mortally wounded, but when Hassan recovers the Crown of the Oceans from the floating water mote in the center of the cave, a powerful healing magic envelops the dwarven noble, safeguarding her life force.
Wearing the Crown, Hassan and his companions return to the royal palace, where they are hailed as heroes. The gathered masetians recognize Hassan as their rightful ruler, and as the promised king that will bring back their golden age.
The celebrations are short-lived, as news of a fleet approaching the island are brought from the sea. Dozens of warships flying the Serpent's flag are getting closer to Dorotheas. The timing of this attack suggests that the Serpent must have divined the Heroes' arrival long in advance, probably warned by the dark powers of the Shadowfell he pays service to.
The fight for the survival of Dorotheas is about to begin.
